Any team is a great place to start! Pick the team that fits your schedule best. We’ll help place athletes in a division that matches their age, experience, and skill level.

How does the season work?
Each week, athletes practice with their team and coaches. Then every Wednesday, all ZZU club teams come together for game nights.

Do 3rd graders play with older grades?
Athletes are placed into divisions based on grade, experience, and skill level. Our goal is to create fun, competitive, and safe matchups for everyone.

Anyone in 3rd–8th grade! ZZU is a co-ed league, and all boys and girls are welcome.

Are jerseys required?
For the summer season, team uniforms are not required. Athletes may borrow jerseys for game nights as needed, or families may choose to purchase one.

Equipment

Add-ons
6-8th Grade Travel Team: Are you looking to take your game to the next level? We've got an opportunity for you - ZZU's 6th-8th Grade Travel Team! This is a tryout team, meaning we will take a limited number of athletes. We encourage all athletes to tryout regardless of your “perceived” skill level. This team is in addition to your “local” team. Still attend your team’s practice throughout the week and play games with them on Fridays. Those teams are open to everyone, no cuts. This travel team is an additional challenge for the person who wants to take their game to the next level. The Travel Team practices once a week and attends different tournaments throughout the season. Cost, tryouts, and more details can be found here!

WHAT PARENTS SAY:
-
"This is the first sport my son actually enjoys. We wouldn't let him play football after he got injured."
-
"I like it because my 4th grade son, 7th grade daughter, and 8th grade son can all play at the same time. ONE car trip!"
-
"I was hesitant about the fact that there are no refs, but after the first game I'm surprised at how well it works. They actually talk about disagreements to each other instead of needing a ref."
-
"I appreciate that I don't have to worry about concussions like when he was doing football. I also love knowing my son will always get a good workout in every single practice and game."
WHAT IS ULTIMATE FRISBEE:
Combining the nonstop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of football, a game of Ultimate Frisbee is played two seven-player teams on a field similar to football. The object of the game is to score points by catching a pass in the opponent’s end zone. A player must stop running while in possession of the disc, but may pivot and pass to any of the other receivers on the field.
Just like basketball, Ultimate Frisbee is a transition game in which players move quickly from offense to defense on turnovers that occur with a dropped pass, an interception, a pass out of bounds, or when a player is caught holding the disc for more than ten seconds. Although Ultimate Frisbee resembles many traditional sports in its basic athletic requirements, the rules are simpler, which allows the game to be self-officiated. The concept of Spirit of the Game is integrated into the basic philosophy of the sport, it is written into the rules and is practiced at all levels of the games from local leagues to the World Games.

Several local colleges have teams including Davenport University which offer athletic scholarships for both their Men's and Women's teams.
