Our athletes deserve a dedicated core of coaches who have a passion for this sport. More importantly, they want coaches who are passionate about them as individuals. Let us teach you the X's and O's of Ultimate to earn the right to be their coach. 

Ultimate Frisbee is the best sport in the world. This sport can change the trajectory of a person's life and overall attitude if it's done right.

COACHING ACADEMY

Join for a training session - no experience required. We have different levels of training for where you are at as a coach. Maybe you are new and will be teaching a newer team. If you have a lot of experience, you will be trained accordingly.

• ​Coaching Academy 101 is the perfect starting point for new and aspiring coaches. 

  • In this session, you’ll gain the core skills and confidence needed to lead young athletes on and off the field. Topics include safety and preparedness, teaching fundamentals, running effective practices, and creating a positive team culture. You’ll leave with practical tools, resources, and the support network to step into your first coaching role with success.​

• Coaching Academy 201 builds on the foundation of 101 and is designed for coaches who are ready to take the next step.

  • This session dives deeper into strategy, skill development, and advanced practice design. Learn how to teach game concepts, manage in-game decisions, and foster long-term player growth. By the end, you’ll be equipped to elevate your athletes’ experience and guide teams at a higher level of competition.

We are looking for: 

 

• Any parent who wants to learn the sport and start to coach

  • 1 free registration if you coach games + practices

  • 50% off 1 registration if you coach just games or practices

• High School Ultimate player looking to coach a 3rd-6th grade team

• Any adult Ultimate player who can coach either a 3rd-8th grade or High School team

• We have volunteer and paid positions! Let us know if you want to coach.

Requirements: 

​

• CPR Certification (ZZU pays this fee - we will reimburse you)

  • These typically are good for 2 years. After it expires, you will have to complete a new certification.

• Background Check (ZZU pays this fee - we will reimburse you)

  • You will need to complete a new one every calendar year. ​

• Concussion Training 

  • You will need to complete a new one every calendar year. ​

  • A short video to learn concussion protocol​

• Learn the Rules

  • ​While there are a lot of nuances, we expect you to know the basics. We have training videos to help with this! ​​​​

• Attend a Coaching Academy Session 

  • Required once every calendar year​
